Accessibility.

Goodneighbor Blues aims to make the radio, recordings and Reading Room usable with a keyboard, assistive technology and a range of screen sizes. Our technical target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This is an ongoing effort, not a certification of complete conformance.

Getting around

Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between controls. A visible focus outline shows where you are. The first link skips navigation and goes to the main content. Use Enter for links and buttons, or Space for buttons and checkboxes. The site map offers another way to find recordings and public pages.

Listening and reading

Radio starts when you choose Listen Live. Stop Radio and the volume control remain available in the player at the bottom of the screen. In the Reading Room, Read along keeps the radio playing; Listen to the story plays the narration and pauses radio. Every narrated history chapter has its complete written text on the page. Chapter progress can be changed with the labelled slider.

Reviewed song lyrics appear in the Reading Room when available and on the matching recording pages. Some recordings still need a complete reviewed lyrics transcript. We are not claiming full coverage of the music catalog.

Motion and visual effects

The slideshow has a pause button. The waveform has a separate animation toggle and is decorative: it carries no information needed to use the player. Reduced-motion preferences turn off automatic visual animation where supported. You can pause lyric updates without stopping the radio.

Video captions

Videos use YouTube’s player after you choose to load it. Use its captions and playback controls where available, or open the playlist on YouTube. Caption availability and accuracy vary by video and still require review. We cannot certify the accessibility of a third-party player.

Tell us about a barrier

Email [email protected] with the page address, the control or content that caused trouble, and your browser or assistive technology if you wish. Please leave out passwords and sensitive personal information. You can also request a lyrics transcript or another way to access specific content.

Current review

Last technical review: October 21, 2026. Checks include automated accessibility rules, keyboard operation, labels, focus, contrast and responsive layouts. Automated checks do not replace screen-reader testing and usability review by people with disabilities. Missing music transcripts and third-party video captions remain known content limitations.
